Privacy and rights

Responses to the Families and Employers survey are strictly confidential, and participants have the right not to answer certain questions if they do not wish to do so. All information collected is protected by statistical secrecy, in accordance with the French Data Protection Act.

The data collected will be processed for scientific research purposes only. Participants have a right of access to information concerning them, and may ask for it to be rectified or limited. They also have the right to object to the use of administrative data concerning them, supplied by INSEE.

Data from the Families and Employers survey are collected by Insee on the basis of a public interest mission. The survey was awarded the label of general interest and statistical quality, as well as mandatory status on October 5, 2022. Respondents’ contact details have been provided by the French national statistics institute (Insee) after authorization by the Statistical Confidentiality Committee.

Respondents’ rights

In order to protect your data, the regulations recognize your right to access, rectify or limit the processing of your personal data.

These rights apply to data collected during the course of the survey, as well as to third-party data used to enrich contact data (La Poste relocation file, Cnil operator files, contact files of personnel managers or company directors), administrative data (tax, employment or company data) or data resulting from navigation through the questionnaire, which tracks the actions carried out by respondents on the web interface. You also have the right to object to the use of administrative data concerning you, supplied by INSEE.

These rights may be exercised by contacting the team by e-mail at famemp@ined.fr. If you have any questions about the processing of your data, please contact Ined’s Data Protection Officer: dpd@ined.fr. If you consider it necessary, you can make a complaint to the Cnil.

Protection of privacy

The Families and Employers survey has received a favorable opinion from the Commission Nationale Informatique et Libertés (CNIL, deliberation no. 2023-089 of September 14, 2023).

During the data collection phase, the names and contact details of persons invited to take part in the survey are only accessible to a limited number of Ipsos employees for the purpose of contacting them. Ipsos is legally obliged to destroy this information no later than 6 months after the end of the survey. If you agree, your contact details will be kept by Ined for follow-up purposes until the end of the last survey wave.

Data is collected by Ipsos, analyzed by the survey design team, stored and archived by Ined. A non-identifiable file will be made available to the scientific community on request and after user authorization.

Ipsos therefore has no access to the files containing the questionnaire responses, which will be used solely for scientific research purposes. Conversely, the Ined research team does not have access to participants’ names or contact details.

Data retention period

After the end of the survey, INED will distribute to the scientific community the answers to the questionnaires and the data from administrative files, without any personal identifiers and ensuring that the participants cannot be traced in the data. Only researchers will have access, after signing a confidentiality agreement. Data will be kept for 5 years from the date of last scientific use.

Statistical confidentiality

Statistical confidentiality guarantees that the data collected on participants in the study will only be used for statistical and research purposes. It also guarantees that the data collected will not be used in any way that could harm the participants.

Legal basis for data processing

Participation in the study is based on the performance of a mission of public interest. It has been granted mandatory status by the Conseil national de l’information statistique. Your answers will be processed under the responsibility of INED. After analysis, they will be archived.
